REST

Relationship. Expression. Stillness. Transcendence.

REST is a framework that provides structure to support safe and effective introspective practice to cultivate enhanced well-being.

REST provides four fields of introspective practice:

  • Relationship - with oneself, others and one’s environment

  • Expression - of body, breath and voice

  • Stillness - of body, breath and mind

  • Transcendence - of one’s values and beliefs that no longer serve them and of the egoic structure

Ensuring one’s practice considers all four of these fields is at the core of working within the framework. One may choose any number of practices and philosophies, but always considering whether their practice is exploring all four fields.

If all four fields are not considered, one risks developing a practice that will take them further from a state of balance. Meditators who are heavily repressed in their expression are common, and when psychonauts are not deeply rooted in a relational web are at high risk of ego inflation, delusion and spiritual bypass.

This framework has been deeply influential in my own practice and I’ve seen the penny drop for others when introduced to it. When all four fields are considered, and a practitioner applies energy to the area(s) that feel underdeveloped, fast progress towards enhanced well-being can be made.
